The dry desert plains burst into a riot of colors in the spring. 
Birds we identified at Carrizo included Quail, Western Kingbird, Loggerhead Shrike, Sparrow, Western Meadowlark, Road Runner, etc. Far away in the distance we spotted one lone tree
with a Common Raven sitting on a large nest of sticks and twigs.
In the soft fur lined nest were the most beautiful turquoise colored eggs I had ever seen!

Looks like the Common Raven didn't have a lot of trees to choose from...
Fortunately, that one and only tree was strong enough to hold the very large heavy nest, 4 beautiful eggs, the big black Common Raven and "curious george". :o)
Did you take all of these pictures? They are great. I think I like the meadow and the lake background the best. Did Mr. Raven have no other choices, such as taller trees?

Yes, I took all the pictures you see in my blogs. I'm glad you like the meadow with the lake. I especially like the reflection on the lake.
Mr. Raven didn't have any other tree to build his nest on. He was mighty fortunate to have that one tree. However, if you'll plant him another tree, he'll have more to choose from.
A small glimpse of "The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. Isaiah 35:1". God can bring great beauty out of the waste places!
